Why carbon fibre laminate are popular of strengthening

Carbon fibre laminate is one-way sheet reinforced by carbon fibre. Its forming process is to solidify carbon fibre impregnated with resin in the die and continuous pultrusion. It has good properties such as high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, seismic resistance and impact resistance.

What is Carbon Fiber Laminate?

Carbon fibre laminate is one-way sheet reinforced by carbon fibre. Its forming process is to solidify carbon fibre impregnated with resin in the die and continuous pultrusion. It has good properties such as high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, seismic resistance and impact resistance. It can give full play to the strength and modulus of elasticity of carbon fibers. It can avoid the resin curing stage of carbon fibers unidirectional fabrics during construction. It has high strength utilization efficiency and convenient construction.

What are the advantages of carbon laminate over carbon cloth?

Speaking of CFRP reinforcement, everyone will think of CFRP reinforcement. In fact, CFRP reinforcement is not only CFRP reinforcement, but also CFRP strip reinforcement, and CFRP strip reinforcement has many advantages over CFRP reinforcement.

Carbon fibre laminate has good mechanical effect

GB50367-2013 "Code for Reinforcement Design of Concrete Structures" clearly stipulates that the design values of tensile strength of CFRP sheet and CFRP laminate in important components are 1600 MPa and 1150 MPa respectively. For example, we take 100cm wide 300g CFRP sheet and 1.2 thick CFRP laminate as examples:

Tensile force calculated by 10cm carbon cloth is 1600 * 100 * 0.167 (300g carbon cloth thickness) = 26720N.

Tensile force calculated for 10cm carbon plate is 1150*100*1.2=138000N.

From the calculation results, we can see that a layer of carbon sheet with the same width and thickness of 1.2mm can bear more than five times the tensile force of 300 g carbon sheet.

Good utilization ratio of strength

Above, we mentioned that the design value of tensile strength of primary carbon cloth in important components is 1600 MPa, the tensile strength of primary carbon board in important components is 1150 MPa, and the ultimate tensile strength of primary carbon cloth and primary carbon board are 3400 MPa and 2400 MPa, respectively. Based on the above data, we can calculate their strength utilization ratio separately:

Carbon cloth strength utilization ratio: 1600/3400 = 47.1%

Strength Utilization Rate of Carbon Plate: 1150/2400 = 47.9%

It can be seen that the strength utilization ratio of carbon sheet is not lower than that of carbon cloth.

Better quality control of pasted carbon plate

Carbon plate is a kind of carbon fiber precursor which is formed by infiltration and hardening with resin. The material itself is hard. The adhesive layer is well controlled when plastering and the pressure is well controlled when pasting, so the pasting effect will not be problematic. In the process of pasting carbon fiber cloth, there will be a series of common faults such as warping edge and bulging. And the requirement of carbon cloth bonding is higher than that of carbon board bonding.
